The grocery store, Sunday farmer's market, post office, boating activities (whale watch,kayak tours, four-masted schooner, etc.), museums, shopping, churches,YMCA Fitness Center, bus tours of the park are all within walking distance. Part of your view is of Bar Island, which gives us our name....BAR Harbor. At low tide twice a day, you can walk across the exposed "bar" to the island, which is half National Park. A walk to the top of the island gives you a view of the entire harbor and the village. Of course, our island is half Acadia National Park so you are always surrounded by beauty...mountains, ocean, islands, lighthouses, freshwater lakes and ponds, 50 miles of carriage trails for traffic-free biking, hiking trails, guided nature tours.
